Day - I don't know of MCO. Lost count already. I hope everyone is doing well wherever you are and whoever you are with at the moment. I wouldn't lie how chaotic the world has been for the past few weeks, covid-19 is no joke!

My family and I are doing fine syukur Alhamdulillah, Kakak is working from home, my dad goes to work because he is in the essential services. He still opens his clinic for a limited time only so he'll be back before 5pm. Kiki is getting fatter each day and he got chased out by my dad because he kept wanting to go out! Then he didn't come back for a few days. That fat old cat is so annoying not even sure who is the boss.

It feels good to be back again after almost two months. I miss this space so much, I've always wanted to write more since it's MCO but that's just how I pictured myself to be, at least. The first 10 days were productive I tell you. I finished four books in two weeks, helped my brothers mowed the lawn, spring cleaning the whole house, rewatched my favourite drama and the list goes on. It was the peak of my 'bored to death' that I played Counter-Strike and got kicked out so many times. I fed up.

Then I started to play GTA again but it lasted for two days only as I find games are not my nature. I got back to reading, coming to this white site and stared at it for hours not knowing what to write. I am not sure if I am no longer interested in writing or I ran out of ideas to tell stories. I expect it to be the latter one as I can't think of anything else that I'm good at if I were to stop writing.

I was reading a history of procrastination book by Andrew Santella a few days ago, also marking my fifth book during MCO. I am surprised to know that even scholars and scientists procrastinate as the famous Charles Darwin was. In this way, we can all claim some blood relationship with him. I stumbled upon the sentence wrote by the author, where he called procrastination as "sloth in five syllables"

So apparently, I'm a sloth by heart.

Are we simply stupid or the thought of this can be done a night before; making us more productive than ever is the reason why we delay doing things? We are conscious of how little time left before the dateline yet we opt to do something else. I have learned that one of the basic rules of procrastination professed by Robert Benchley is
"Anyone can do any amount of work, provided it isn't the work he is supposed to be doing at the moment."
I couldn't be more agreed with the American columnist.

I am always amused by my idiocy because no matter how many vows I had to myself that this would be the last time I had my assignment done last minute, I would most likely end up doing the same all over again. I believe it is not entirely about time management, but it is how to get things done correctly. We need to know where to begin if we are heading somewhere because, in every beginning, there is an end. Therefore, having a general conceptual about something is not enough as we still need a clear vision to be achieved.

When it comes to procrastination, the paradox is we suddenly become determined to do just about anything except for "that one thing." Based on my reading, it is said that procrastinators are able to keep them busy although they are avoiding their "actual work" which is precisely true. The fact that I actually know I shouldn't be doing the thing that I was currently doing makes it more illogical because why would I focus on non-urgent tasks, unnecessarily?

However, some psychologists think if postponement feeds our productivity or the deadline rush energizes us then we are not really procrastinating. If there is a good occasion to put a task off, then it is somehow acceptable. I love procrastinating yet I feel guilty for doing but I am not all that eager to stop. If procrastination were to have any goodness in it, certainly it will encourage us to ponder. It drives us to think about why we are doing what we are currently doing or not doing what we are not.

There was a time that I couldn't decide what I really wanted to do. Not only I couldn't decide whether I should procrastinate but what would be the next move that will lifelessly lead me to procrastination. I didn't want to do what I was, walking back and forth and getting nowhere. It reminded me of how important it is to have insight into what exactly is it that we want to accomplish, attain and obtain.

Indeed, it is hard to do things that we don't want to do or conversely, stop doing things we want to do. It always will be but we can get better at it if we let ourselves do so. The only excuse why it is difficult to solve is we deny that difficulty is inherent and acceptable. When things get hard, we tend to assume something is wrong so we look for ways to make things easier. It is normal wanting everything to be easy but then we wouldn't get to learn if it's in our comfort zone. When I was presenting BCSS at Project for Happiness two years ago, I remember the CEO himself, Mr Cheng told me that if it's easy then it's not learning.

We all have that devil in us who gives a false sense of gratification or satisfaction, hence stopping us from making a rational decision. But then, we know that is not a way to live. In all honesty, we have to finish off whatever we have started because we are not quitters, what more failures. If there is one thing I have learned from the book is to stop connecting completion time with relevance before we even start doing something.

as I'm writing this, please get in your mind that it is based on my life experience & preferences:

I figure out one of my close friends who went through a hard time (read: the partner left my friend) for someone else and what makes me sad is that it was his first time liking someone, or in other word - his first love.

To make it short, this close friend of mine, let's call him Z, was in a relationship with a girl for quite long enough, then suddenly I knew that girl is with someone else already. It breaks my heart twice first because my close friend didn't tell me, second because I knew his love for that girl was true. Up till this day, I have heard so many love stories from my close friends, be it confused feelings, the spark isn’t there like how it used to or it doesn’t feel the same anymore and etc.

I'd never thought how a person could affect someone's life that it's either make or break you. and yes, I had my first heartbreak and it was awful that I pray none of my close friends will ever go through what I had. Surprisingly, it happened sooner than what I’ve expected but that was a long time ago (not that long)

Even though I have never been in a relationship before, but the misery itself taught me a lot that I am pretty much able to put my place in my friends’ situation. Things happened, I learned, I moved on and I never been happier ever since.

Back to this Z-story, I feel bad for him that she took him for granted, never liked the girl in the first-place pun as I’ve been hearing unpleasant gossips about her so I wasn’t that surprised but they lasted longer than I’ve predicted. I talked to Z since what I went through was likely the same – heartbreak.

When it was my time, my friends were all there for me, I didn’t feel alone, not a single bit. I remembered; Sab was constantly checking on me the whole week. The first thing I saw on my phone everyday was WhatsApp message – “Sarah, okay dah?” “Sarah, have a great day ahead!”, then Farah made time to call me despite her busy schedule, and John annoyingly asking if I’m doing well (wuv you, babe). I was lucky, and I’m grateful for amazing friends, always.

I wanted to do the same to Z, but I’d never think I’ll able to do what my friends did for me back then. Then, I told him I surely know how he feels at the moment even he didn’t say it. Z said he never talked about it to anyone because he didn’t want people to see how fragile he is. Truth is, that is one of the features of feelings.

Feelings itself is a solid noun, and what makes it unique is that you can have different emotions at one time – mixed feelings. It is okay to cry if you just got break up and I don’t think you look less macho pun. Cry all you want if that will help you ease your heartache, shout if you have to because as far as I’m concerned, keeping everything to yourself is unhealthy.

In my humble opinion, cheating is a choice, being loyal to your partner is a choice too, you decide to stay or leave. Even liking someone else when you are with someone else is a tiny chance created by yourself. If you ask me personally what do I think about kesetiaan (loyalty) – it presents you as a whole, and for me, loyalty comes with a price, can you afford it? It comes with respect, honesty, trust which made it likely a diamond. Once you crack or accidentally drop it, it might unbreakable but there will be scratches somewhere that it won’t be the same anymore.

To anyone who is having a likely tough time in moving on or middle of tension situation with your partner, please prioritize yourself before anyone else. I might sound selfish but you are your longest commitment after all so do what makes you happy and what you think the best for you. Know your worth and if your partner makes you a better person, that’s a good sign. Girls will radiantly glow more than ever if they are with the right people, just like what I see in my close friend. She went through a lot, and I’m glad she found someone who makes her happy the way she deserves to!

My advice is time will definitely heal, let it go and let God. It took me quite some time to move on as well, but I've learned to love myself even more throughout the way. It is okay to cry every night before sleep; it doesn’t make you look any less weak because we humans have feelings. I’ll pray that the day of – you realized that you just don’t care about him/her anymore, and completely erased whatever nightmares you had, and trust me, there will be a person who will take your pain away in shaa Allah aamiin! If you are brave enough to love, then you are bold enough for inhuman heartbreaks.

Love cannot be found where it does not exist nor can it be hidden where it truly does – William Shakespeare

it's been a while since the last time I sign-ed up this account, cause really I haven't read a lot. I am enjoying my semester break - filled with HK/Chinese Drama and Running Man marathon which leads me to be in love with Chansung and Taecyeon at the moment.

anyways, I'm turning 21 today...omg I feel old, super old yet still single! :p if you've been following my blog since 5 years ago, perhaps you would remember the anxiety post that I posted two years ago.
Alhamdulillah, it can finally be overcome, reduced, slowly that I eventually know how to control myself. I am thankful that my heart has stopped palpating for no reasons and I don't depend on meds anymore. I even forgot when the last time I had one, alhamdulillah alhamdulillah!

Anxiety Disorder

I experienced myself admitted to hospital due to appendix a week before SPM and it was chaotic I tell ya! regardless, He made it easy for me to cover subjects that I have not yet finished memorized, it was indeed a blessing in disguise. I am not going to lie that deep inside I was worried what if I couldn't do well but Alhamdulillah everything went well that time, and that was 4 years ago. That was my part; written for me and different people go through struggles differently. Nevertheless, struggles are meant for us to learn because if we got it right instantly, we wouldn't get the chance to learn. Hence, it comes to patience and faith, I believe that they both work together in making us a better person.

Whatever the future holds for you and us, bear in mind that everything happens for a reason. Indeed it is easier said than done. If only is that easy for us to accept, redha and move on but alas, life doesn't work that way and we all know that. If only He gives what we want promptly without having to work hard, then we wouldn't be able to learn something throughout our lives. The whole time I have lived for, there are countless misfortunes, adversity, tribulations, people come and go that I managed to pull it through. They have all shaped the person I am today.

Obviously, it takes me quite a while for me to digest my written fate. It wasn't easy though, for instance, I was on pills for two years due to anxiety, with a countless mental breakdown in between, yet my friends never left me and always be there for me. When I say always, I really mean it. I began to know who my real friends are. Although I decided to have a small circle of friends, at least I feel better and happier by letting only positive vibes inside. Of course, there are days I wonder why are we friends again? Honestly, there are so many things that I am thankful for and one of them is the friendships I have with my friends. I loved them so much that I never missed including them in my prayers.

Moving on, I hated myself because I didn't do well in SPM - hence I had to get my shit together and promised to score well in my diploma. The struggle that people didn't see is that I had to learn something that I never liked yet syukur Alhamdulillah I did well. He made it easy for me in completing my Diploma in Business Studies and again, I am taking something that I don't like. I went through a hard time in my studies and I don't foresee the future to be easy as I wished it would be. Help me go through this once again, ya Rabb. He knows what is best for me, and He knows myself better than I know myself because He is the Creator, Allah SWT. Permudahkan jalanku, Tuhan.

What I am trying to say here is that He is the One and Only - knows why you are placed in some displeasing situations that you wished if only it's not you that has to go through. There will be days you are high spirited to fight in lives, and there will also days you are just...weak and dusted! and that's okay because it is the part of the journey itself. Cry and let it all out because we are not superheroes, as we have feelings - despair, frustration, sadness, and how we pick ourselves and bounce back is all that matters, just as the Japanese proverb - "Nana korobi, ya oki"; "Fall down seven times, stand up eight". It means choosing to never give up on hope and to always strive for more. If there is only one thing that I could give to everyone on earth, that would be - hope.

Hope - itself is a strong word. However, have you ever wonder how one's life can change with hope. Hope to recover from illness, hope that a relationship would last, hope in having a better life, and hope that you'll do well in a presentation, all you need is hope. I believe with hope, even a tiny hope - can lead you in achieving your dreams. so, don't give up guys! No matter what life throws at you, you are capable of getting through, you got this! You have the ability to face it, deal with it, learn from it and grow from it.

The older I get, the more I realize I just need the simple things in life. Having my family with me on every step of the way I'm taking, having good friends to always hype me up, having a healthy body itself makes me happy and thankful. Expensive things don't fancy me anymore like how they used to, hello I'm joking! They do...fancy me sometimes HAHAHA but as I am ageing, I am aware that materials, wealth, and fame don't give happiness and joy. Having a simple life with great company is all that matters now.

Throughout 21 years of living, I don't think I have contributed that much to society. I went for a Community Service in Cambodia back in high school, I swear to God, I need to do a lot of charity in order to keep myself grounded and humble! I went to feed those homeless people in KL with my friends, and I feel contented. By doing this, at least I get to reflect myself - just how lucky I am Alhamdulillah. I hope, one day this blog able to change one's life for the better, even it's only a person. Do include me in your doa.

I was half awake when my close friend WhatsApp-ed me asking a question that left me wondering, am I just another an ungrateful brat or my fate happened to be lucky.

I replied, "hahhahahaha what question is this? It's the latter one". I wasn't even fully awake and my mind wasn't functioning well just yet. It wasn't a silly question that I often get by my friends, indeed it was an eye-opening one.

Her question was, "apa padangan kau tentang orang ni unlucky ke ungrateful?"

I thought it for a while that evening because I wasn't satisfied with my own replies. I shouldn't have answered her question promptly, regardless, I still believe the answer should be ungrateful because there are no such things as unlucky or bad luck, instead, it is a trial from Allah SWT who wishes to see what we do in the given circumstances.  Are we patient and grateful and keep our faith firm in Him or are we impatient and ungrateful?

After I perform my Maghrib prayers that day, Zati whatsApped me with good news saying that we scored well for our test paper. I honestly thought I was going to fail. I shuddered while typing as a response to her WhatsApp, "Alhamdulillah omg cries!!"

Then, it made me re-think with the question that my close friend asked me that day. All this while, I do realize that I am somewhat blessed in my own way that He has given me good grades in my tests and examination even though I didn't and don't deserve it. Even back in my diploma days, there were days that I only read a day before, yet still scored above 75.

Was I lucky or I truly deserved it?

I wouldn’t have the guts to say any of them. Ever since I started my degree in Finance, my studies have been shaky and rocky that I swear, I wanted to quit. It made me rethink with the life choices I’ve made. If He were to place me with what I actually wanted 3 years ago, would I still be struggling as I am today?

I had a countless mental breakdown in between papers. I might look as if I'm good in my studies, but deep inside, I feel sorry for myself. If there is anyone that I would feel sorry for, that would be myself. I love to study, I love reading, I love getting new knowledge but I know, Finance is not where my heart is. At least for now.

And again, am I being ungrateful though I still get the chance to pursue my studies?

When things don't go our way, I think we are the earliest ones to let everyone know how frustrated we can get. We humans will hate everything, everyone including ourselves and that's how we are. We want things to go our way all the time and when they don't, we can turn into monsters that people who know us would get surprised too.

But basically, it’s just us ungrateful humans.

Why do we forget at those days how much good was done fairly upon us? How can we forget the simple joys, the great blessings that we once had when those good things happened to us?

Did we thank God at that time?

What we see is that, if something good happens, we deserved it and we earned it. If something bad happens then we are just unlucky. How selfish and ungrateful is that?

We turn a blind eye to what's actually right and rather accepting, we focus on what is wrong. We'll be complaining and responding to any positive attributes of our world with "yes but then…" Admit it, we are all like that.

I began to think that Allah's plan for us is true to who we are at our core, in our very essence. His plan may not bring us fame, fortune or physical pleasure. It might also mean giving up material comfort. Allah's plan for us may not be what we would wish it to be. It is not luck, it's Allah's will. It is not unlucky or lucky, but it is Allah's perfect plan for us.

We might see how some people are just so lucky and hoping that we would be in their shoes. But have we ever questioned why God doesn't put us in certain comfort? Maybe because we don't deserve it, or perhaps if we were to be any of them, are we bold enough for the trials as well?

It goes this way; if I were in someone else's shoes, let say, Maudy Ayunda, am I able to have straight of hectic weeks multitasking between writing books, acting and singing at one time? I wouldn't think I can either!

I have been reading a book by Ustaz Mizi Wahid, and I love how the book tells that we actually aware of some things that we are never able to change so what’s the point of getting too upset? We let God do His job while we do our part and that's that.

Allah's plan is not a fantasy, nor a dream. It may not go our way for the first time, or the second, or even third, but at least, we tried, didn't we? It is better to try or fight over something, rather than regretting over not trying.

I remember a sentence that I read from a book that I failed to recall, it sounds like this, let the possibility of what your God can do for you excite you, and supersede the disappointments of what people have failed to do for you. What the author says is people around us will make us feel disappointed, but Allah SWT will never let us down and upset because of He knows ourselves better than we are.

Even if our prayers yet to be answered, maybe God is saving something better for us. Allah knows what is in our hearts and if He decides to bless someone with Jannah, He will make it so your life in such a way as to keep you humble.

There is no such term as unlucky, but “destiny and reliance on Allah and consenting to what comes from Allah.” In order for us to accept and go through something that beyond our control is to be happy because the key to happiness is on us. We get to decide to be happy or to be sad, so choose the former one. Be content with what we have and don't think about what we don't have. Count your blessings because as you become aware of them and thankful for them, you are capable of handling more blessings coming your way instead of shutting them out with a negative attitude.

"Delays can be painful but they are certainly blessings through and through. He loves you enough to be “late.” Surrender to God, and keep the faith while waiting." - Mizi Wahid

2019 has been pretty much challenging for me so far but I hope it gets better every single day and Alhamdulillah it seems like it. Degree life isn't fun at all, but I am motivated to study once again and I just hope I am never too late for a comeback. Struggled for the first few weeks, and slowly adapting up till this day! Since my home is just 40 minutes away from UiTM, so I go back every weekend and if I were to get into UM, then I'll be going home every day.

I was scrolling through my Facebook Timeline then I stumbled upon a post that couldn't be any more accurate with my current situation;

I have been having daily conversations about how scared I am taking a Degree in Finance with my parents, and my best friends over the past few weeks. I am literally between wanting to do what I love doing and doing something I'm good at. I always love to study, I could study all day long, I could read textbooks for hours but I reached that point of wanting to stop from doing something that I don't have clear goals to be achieved.

Truth to be told, when I entered classes for the first week of my Degree, I knew this is not what I wanted, there is something wrong somewhere that I just felt, no this is not me.

I cried for the first two weeks of my Degree. I even thought of quitting. They say - when you are pursuing your Degree, you'll see where you are heading but I don't. I don't even know where am I heading. It goes this way - our career path likely depended on what we have pursued in our studies, it is indeed an inter-relationship.

I know many of my friends who have their life goals well planned, they know what they wanted to be, they are aware of their career path in 10 -15 years ahead. That's how it supposed to work.

I honestly wonder how it feels to pursue something that we love like many of you. Every time people come to me and say they are struggling in their courses; I’d be mad because you got the chance to do what you love in the first place, what’s with the sighs.

If you truly love what you are doing, I bet the word, complain never even existed in your book.

Pursuing What You Love

"Do what you love and you will succeed"
Steve Jobs

Do what you love, that's what they say. Should we apply the sentiment when choosing what to pursue in our studies?

Definitely A BIG YES

That is the purpose of the aptitude test, IQ test that we sat back in high school – to know what suits us best. Logically, when you take on a course that you are passionate about, you will have higher self-esteem as you will have more energy and constantly happy with what you are learning. As a result, you are able to let yourself grow and developed.

How do you know that what you love doing are passion and not a hobby?

Hobby is not passion, in fact, they are two different things that seem to have similar meanings yet they aren't. The fact that I like writing does it mean I can make a career out of it? Of course, I can, only if I go to a journalism school.

I personally think that there is a fine line between doing what you love and doing something you are good at. Doing what you love involves passion, deep affection, and genuine interest that you don’t get to decide but it chooses you and then you fall in love instantly.

21 years old, diploma checked, currently in semester 2 of Degree yet I still haven't figured out what I want to be in the future.

All these years were never easy because I wanted to follow my heart and taking a course that I am passionate about, but at the same time, I opt for a course with a more secure career route. I won't deny the reason why I put Finance as my first choice because it is forecasted demand in the financial industry will increase by 2025.

When I filled in the UPU Degree Application, I was worried and I couldn’t stop thinking what if I am applying because I just solely wanted to move out from UiTM. I did apply for English Studies but it was my third choice because Finance field is more promising and that’s that.

I did try to be in love with what I am taking but my love in English undeniably stronger than anything relates to finance don’t amuse me easily. I did read news regarding financing and economics, honestly, I find they are boring. On the bright side, I am able to read the stocks market in the newspaper now! Pats myself.

So, what is mediocre if I pursue a course that I am good at and capable of doing instead of choosing a course that I love?

If I were to quit and start all over again in English, would I be able to score well?
What if I am actually not good at it when I thought I was.

Ever since I saw that post, my perceptions slowly drifted and I am looking at a bigger picture why God didn't place me in a course that I wanted. It had indeed enlightened me in some ways. God knows better than anyone, His plans are always the best. I passed by a quote as I was looking for ideas to write,

Discovering our passion and what we really love to do is not enough. If I want to build a life doing that, I must be good at it. But alas, being good isn’t enough too. I have to make sure that I can make money from it because if I were to spend my lives doing what I love but no one finds value in, I am likely to end up being broke because no one pays attention to my passion. What matters is the result of your work. No one cares what shit you’ve been through to be on top.

Life isn’t all being at the top most of the times, if you decide to pursue what you love doing then you must love the pain too. Wishing for something doesn’t mean that you really want is adequate, we have to want it so bad, if there’s anything come in between, you will never give in.

Doing What You are Good at

People tend to be busy in looking for their interests and likings till they forget the significant thing. Even if we haven’t found what we love, there’s always something we are good at. You might be able to communicate better, manage people, better skills in PR.

There is always something in us that makes us stand out. Perhaps your flaws could be your biggest strength.

If you know what you love doing, you still have to try to do what you are good at because instead of what doing what you love without any progress, it’s better to love what you do with visible growth.

Most of the times, the thing that makes us stand out is usually one we are good at – and not the one that we love to do.

Sometimes, choosing to study something that we are passionate about might not be as beneficial as we think. Our degrees are a long-term investment in which we are profited with knowledge in return, and they have to be applied in future.

There is a difference between your interests and your career strengths. For example, if you think you could really crack the world of modern art then great, but if art is just something you enjoy on a weeknight, perhaps reconsider your choice to study fine art.

Play to your strengths, not your passions. If you are lucky enough to have the two overlap then great.

A good friend of mine once told me that we should never pray for what we want to be granted but instead pray for the best. I did pray for all the best things over the years that He put me in Business Studies 3 years ago. Yet, I couldn't accept with an open heart instead I questioned why.

I guess I am slowly back on the track again, and I know I need to speed up because I don't want to be left far behind. As for now, I am still waiting for UPU result, and if I were to get any of it, I would love to go, no doubt. I don't want to put my hopes too high because I'm scared if I were not to be offered, I would be devastated.

I thought that all these days I won't think twice of moving but I was wronged. I don't know why but I have been thinking of staying lately. Perhaps I am already comfortable as I am halfway through already. I look forward to classes nowadays, I am more energetic and higher spirited most of the time, and also feeling hungry every second. Not even sure what is my weight currently HAHAHA but let's hope it doesn't exceed 50kg just yet.

Even if I am doing something, I am good at, but I believe there will always be a room for myself to take my writings to greater highs. And who knows, in the process of loving what I do, I might as well be doing what I love.

When you can’t answer your dreams, answer your calling.

“Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we might oft win by fearing to attempt.”

Dan sampai satu saat,
Bila semuanya kembali asal,
Engkau akan langsung merindui,
Apa yang engkau lalui,
Dan itulah namanya kenangan.

Selamat Tinggal 2018.
Salam 2019.

Terlalu banyak hal;
dan terlalu banyak perkara
yang mengajar aku dari segenap penjuru
meski dari sudut pelajaran,
mahupun persahabatan;
andai diringkaskan
ia bermaksud kehidupan.

Mungkin dulunya aku tidak melalui,
tapi Tuhan lebih tahu,
Dia aturkan sebaiknya,
pada fasa yang aku sudah bersedia
kerana Tuhan tahu,
aku kuat untuk menempuh
ujian yang mendatang.

Sungguh tidak mudah,
namun aku bangga,
bangga dek kerana aku bisa,
untuk lewati cerita;
yang sudah lama tertulis
buat aku sejak awalnya.

Tahun yang penuh seribu satu makna,
kini aku tinggalkan,
berlalulah engkau meninggalkan kesan,
serta kenangan,
kerana sejauh mana aku cuba untuk lupakan,
aku masih tidak boleh lari,
dari engkau yang kini membentuk aku,
menjadi seorang yang matang.

Tahun baru kini kian menjelma,
tak sabar untuk aku mulakan,
tanpa penuh rasa ragu,
aku melangkah,
untuk menyambut engkau,
si warsa baru.

Pengalaman yang diperoleh,
akan aku jadikan teladan sebaiknya;
agar aku mampu jadi lebih baik
dari sebelumnya.

Terima kasih, 2018.
